genderpac

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

*While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff, and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the U.S.

Hello
I just Graduated with my BA and I'm going to get my applied museum studies degree in a year or so. I'm canadian, 24, a lesbian and funny. I'm out to everyone and anyone. I have several dutch boys but I'm now in rural place with few lesbians or gay people around. So I thought maybe there might be some people on here with similar interests and what not for me to chat to.
I love art and sports, movies, music and learning new things. I read the news, i like being up todate on local news and national news...world news is the same i find.

Hey all, first entry here.
Just was wondering if anyone went to Boston Pride this weekend? OMG it was amazing. I was in the parade on saturday, i was walking with the Bagly group, pretty close to the front. The amount of people there, showing their support was indescribeable. The Globe said there were some 200,000 onlookers. I am so glad i live in MA.
I went to Youth pride before, it was nothing compared to it, granted seeing all the youth was cool and the Prom after was fun, this though, just wow.

Anyway, since it is my first time posting, i'll tell ya a bit about me.
I am 19 years old...girl...my name is Keri, i go to FPC in NH but currently i am home in good old Mass for the summer. Just broke up with my first gf. She is cool, we just weren't on the same level with stuff, we are still friends, so all is well. I currently have a major crush on another girl from my school, but unfortunatly, though i may be single now, she is not. Oh well, it happens. at least this time, i did not fall for a straight girl.

Guys at the moment, hoenstly, the only guy i like there would nto go on a date with me. Oh well, he is a jerk sometimes i disscovered, cool, but jerk.

Anyone want to talk or watnot, cool with me, i enjoy makign new friends. IM on searchin4sheep or check out my real journal user name searching4sheep...keep in mind, one has a g in it one does not.

So yeah, thats me.

Homosexuality............... [11 Jan 2005|12:45am]

brownestbean
[ mood | awake ]

By the way if you didn't know by now, i am a lesbian. Tonight i have been doing some personal research on Homosexuality and how it develops within an individual. Is it genetic, biological in other ways, is it learned within a society or culture, is it a something you can't help or is it something you can change?
Well....my pure opinion within my own experience is that it's biological. In that way i can say it's natural for me. It's something that i have accepted and i am fine with that.. I was abused sexually as a child but i do not feel that issue has an effect in my sexuality. It's something that is hard for me to describe to others in a way only because it's something that shouldn't be so dissected.. It's natural for me to like women as it is natural for me to like other things...If someone asks me why i like women, then i ask them why are you straight?...You just do or like what you want and that's fine..I have met many lesbians who have hatred for men for personal reasons and in that way that could sometimes be a barrier between that person and any man. Some people have been sexually abused so therefore that can pave a way for those people. Other people grow up in an acceptive enviroment where anything is allowed like drugs or just a openminded understanding.. Some people love to love or be loved by the same sex and desire just the emotional part of people but then end up sexually curious i suppose..I remember being young and having adoration for women...just being around them and knowing that they were emotional and loving and i liked that. I didn't like them sexually....i didn't like men sexually either...but what i am saying is that it depends on who you are....it depends on how you feel and what you want..what you feel inside.. Below i have listed several links regarding Homosexuality...i hope you have time to read this and just think about what is being said...again, all i have said is just my pure opinion...I just want to share with you what i have found and would like to see what you have to say about these articles listed below. Thank you.

Just Click on the Title of the Article and it will take you directly to the link listed....

'Gay Marriage' Is Not About 'Rights'
Right................well here is an excerpt from this article....I think it's unbelieveable
"But opposition to same-sex marriage not about "rights," and it's not about hate or bigotry. No one is preventing homosexuals from living with one another. All homosexuals have a "right" to get married and to have that marriage sanctioned by the state. But in order to do that they must marry someone of the opposite sex -- that's what marriage means and has always meant. When they insist that society be forced to redefine marriage to sanction same-sex unions, they are attempting to establish new and special rights."
'Gay marriage' confusions
Riggghhhhtt.....again...read this one.. let me know your thoughts..
The New Finger-Length Study on Lesbians
So this article is extremely odd. I HAVE to know your thoughts about this one..Here are a few lines-"A recent study found that lesbians are slightly more likely than are heterosexual women to have male-type finger length patterns. Although the correlation was only slight, and although the researchers could not explain why some heterosexual women also had the same finger pattern, the study was quickly hailed as further evidence that homosexually-oriented people are "born that way."
New Ex-Gay Website
This article reminds me of that movie "But I'm A Cheerleader" because it has to deal with therapy "Graduates" and others who have changed from being homosexual to a straight lifestyle. Interesting i guess...By the way, here is that site where you can 'go to the other side' i suppose....'go to the other side'
Ok so here are two other articles that i found to be pretty interesting.. The first is How Might Homosexuality Develop?Putting the Pieces Together and :Dr. Phil's 2 cents are here I think the guy that wrote this article is a shit wipe. Dr. Phil's opinion is pretty savvy.
Anyways....go to NARTH Homepage: National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality if you want to know more about Homosexuality and read other interesting articles.. Dive in you....

I just joined the community so I thought I might introduce myself. My name's Tim and I'm currently a freshman at DePaul Univeristy in Chicago majoring in Political Science. My goal is to go on to law school to become a corporate lawyer and then eventually a judge.

I joined the community to make new friends. This is one of the few gay LJ communities I've run across that's actually serious enough for me to pay attention to. You guys aren't a bunch of kids running around looking for hook-ups which is good, lol.

So, don't be shy.. Feel free to head on over to my journal. It's friends only though so if you're interested just comment and I'll be happy to add anyone.

A pic of meCollapse )
